Performance Team Requirements...

  • Performance Teams are offered for dancer’s that are 10 years of age and older that are looking for a deeper commitment to dance.  Placement will be assessed by Ms. Katie and staff and we will evaluate each student individually as well as how the dancer will work with other dancers in each teams environment. We will use our discretion to move students to a different level if needed in the beginning of the year.  The teams are separated by color names so that the dancers can focus a little more on the team structure and personal growth and not so much on level.
  • Please remember this is a Performance Team, not a competitive team.  We are here to support the love and art form of dance by using it at it’s greatest form; Performance.  The following are a few requirements for our Performance Teams;
  • Weekend Intensive (mandatory) - Usually the beginning of the year.
  • You will learn quick and intense choreography and get to know your team as well as other performance team friends.  We will work on team building skills, quick study and prepare for a mock audition at the end of the weekend.  We will end the last night with a showcase performance for your family of all the great new things you have learned! Each dancer will receive a performance team shirt. Please remember this is a very important tool to making your team experience the best it can be and there is so much you will get out of this weekend that will prepare you for the year.
  • In addition to your Performance Team class time, you must also take the scheduled technique class prior to your team placement. In order to excel and grow we highly recommend an additional Ballet class if you are able.
  • You must be able to make at least one of the three scheduled conventions that take place throughout the year.  (see convention schedule for dates) The average cost for convention classes run between $170-$240. If we travel out of state, we try to save costs by sharing hotel rooms and driving together.  You will also need money for food and souvenirs if you would like.  We highly recommend our new students to performance team to attend the Showstopper Convention in October.
  • You must put all your dates on a calendar so you do not miss any performances.  Please remember this is a commitment to your team and missing a performance will make it hard on your teacher and other team members.  If there is an emergency or you need to be excused from a performance, you will need to contact your team teacher at least 4 weeks prior to the date in order for your teacher to make proper changes.  
  • Absences will not be tolerated.  You are only allowed 3 excused absences through the entire year.  You must contact your team teacher to let them know if you will be absent.  If you end up with 3 absences, you will need to make-up in technique class as well as attend a meeting with a parent, Ms. Katie and your team teacher to discuss any further actions.
  • Each dancer will respect and honor their team by signing and holding true to a team commitment form during the mandatory weekend intensive.
  • A costume fee of $120 will cover at least 2 costumes for the year as well as an Excel Racerback athletic tank that will be able to be used several times throughout the year. 
  • $30 for your jewelry kit if you do not have one.  If you have lost your jewelry you may replace them individually.  Please see Ms. Katie
  • $35 for your Yofi professional make-up kit if you do not already have one.
  • Have a great attitude and be ready to work hard to show your stuff!!!!!
  • Performance Team is such a positive experience for your dancer! Excel prides itself as a safe and encouraging environment for your students to take dance.  All decisions on costume and choreography choices, just like recital, are taken into consideration by age appropriateness of our beautiful dancers.  If you have any questions please contact Ms. Katie at the studio @ 568-0582.

All performance teams must be age 10 and up and take technique class before your class practice time.

We have switched to colors this year to help teachers.  Please contact us for placement or before switching.

Blue Team
  • Technique:  Monday 7:00 - 8:00
  • Team:  Monday 8:00 - 9:00

Yellow Team
  • Technique:  Wednesday 7:00 - 8:00
  • Team:  Wednesday 8:00 - 9:00

Green Team
  • Technique:  Monday 5:00 - 6:00
  • Team:  Monday 6:00 - 7:00

Red Team
  • Technique:  Wednesday 7:00 - 8:00
  • Team:  Wednesday 8:00 - 9:00

Orange Team
  • Technique:  Tuesday 7:00 - 8:00
  • Team:  Tuesday 8:00 - 9:00

Purple Team
  • Technique:  Friday 4:00 - 5:00
  • Team:  Friday 5:00 - 6:00
